Movies I Watched Every day as an Adolescent I Remember Nothing About

Six films I repeatedly watched, but the details escaped me

Freeze frame.

Freeze frame the memorable and delightful moments of your life. These are the moments you repeatedly replay in your head, given these moments established who you are today.

I can’t forget my first video game console, a transparent blue Nintendo 64 (which I still have), the day I became obsessed with music, my first concert, and one which haunts me to this day, the girl I like, gets away. Yet, one moment outshines all those memories. The memory is of a five-year-old me binge-watching movies and TV in my room or the living room, sitting on my tiny monochrome chair.

I can’t say how many films I watched, but I enjoyed them equally. These movies were on repeat, but I can’t remember any scenes. I wonder if nostalgia will change my opinion or if the movies don’t hold up.

Let’s find out, shall we?

Only The Strong

The story about how I own this movie is more appealing than the movie itself.

Only The Strong is a typical let’s save the troubled youth movie. So how are they saving the youth? With the Brazilian style of dance fighting, capoeira. Sure, teach the kids (adults playing teenagers) martial arts to get them off the streets and stop selling drugs.

That’s all well in good, but the movie is laughably stereotypical and cliché. I’m glad the five-year-old canceled these parts and enjoyed the film for its excellent fight choreography and music.

Ba na na wae. Ba na na wae na na.

Flubber

Robin Williams plays a disorderly scientist and college professor who can’t remember what class he teaches and cannot marry the woman he loves after three attempts at marriage. I admire the woman’s patience.
