Band Geeks Has the Best Moments of any ‘SpongeBob SquarePants’ Episode

I wrote an article about the best (spongiest) SpongeBob SquarePants episodes a couple of months back. The list, of course, had the episodes every fan and first-time viewer of SpongeBob would enjoy, yet I forgot to include one episode; one I’m a shame I didn’t add. I could go back and edit the article, but no one wants to read the piece I wrote months ago. So, instead, I’ll write a single article for what could be the best SpongeBob SquarePants episode: ‘Band Geeks.’

On September 7, 2001, released for the second season, ‘Band Geeks’ sees Squidward get redemption as he leads a marching band to shove it in his rich rival face, Squilliam Fancyson, from band class. ‘Band Geeks’ is the first appearance of Squilliam. He would appear in later episodes to mock Squidward for not fulfilling his dreams. Squilliam lives the life Squidward wanted for himself, yet somewhere in Squidward's transition to becoming rich, Squilliam’s the one who took it away. Squilliam’s making money from music, and Squidward works in a fast-food restaurant, hoping someone will pay attention to his clarinet proficiency.

Compared to Squidward, Squilliam isn’t as self-absorbed and selfish. Instead, Squidward acts like a real person trapped in a cartoon full of eccentric…
